How Do I Make a DSP Pitch?

In order to make a DSP pitch, please complete both of the forms below:

  1. Artist Intake Form - this form must be completed once per artist to provide us with a comprehensive overview of the artist.  This form must be completed from a Gmail account so that you can retain access to edit/update your submission.
  2. Artist Pitch Form - this form must be completed ahead of every release inclusive of any marketing drivers and additional information/assets.  If this is not submitted with the required lead time ahead of release we will not be able to pitch your release.

On Spotify, you must make a pitch yourself through their Spotify for Artists tool. This should be done at least 7 days before the intended release date in order to qualify for Release Radar. More details can be found here - "Promotion - Pitch music to Spotify's playlist editors."

What Do I Need to Prepare for DSP Pitching?

Marketing drivers play a crucial role in determining the success of your pitch. Therefore, it is important to put your best foot forward and put together the strongest list of drivers you can possibly muster before each pitch. Some key components of marketing drivers include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Biography/backstory
  • Major collaborators the artist is working with
  • Media outlet features (premiers on online magazines, public appearances)
  • High-growth data points
  • Past DSP editorial support
  • Upcoming tours & concerts schedule

Having all above information on this pitch form is required: Artist Pitch Form

DSP Pitching Overview

Getting your music placed in playlists is an important promotional strategy to maximize exposure and get heard by your audience. DSP pitching is a tool to achieve just that, and each DSP has its own set of rules that should be heeded in order to make sure your pitch gets noticed, and used in the most effect way.

Pitch Timing

As a rule of thumb, please have all the materials ready for pitch submission at least 4 weeks aheads of the release date. Any submissions made past this timeline may not be considered for playlist pitching.  For releases being submitted for pitching, please refrain from making any material changes (ie. change release date, request takedown, etc.) within five days of the planned release date.

Does DSP Pitching Guarantee Playlist Placement?

DSP Pitching does NOT guarantee playlist placement. Success of a pitch is determined by a number of factors, including the quality of marketing drivers, number of pitches received by a DSP that week, and timing of the pitch, among others.

However, it is recommended to make every possible pitch for your new music, as a successful pitch will significantly boost the performance of your release.

Can I Pitch for a Specific Playlist?

DSPs do NOT support pitching for a specific playlist. Curators and editors in each DSP will determine which playlist a track lands on based on factors such as genre, mood, language, and instrumentation.
